AI video survey for moving companies

The survey your customer can do tonight.

An AI video survey is a pre-move survey the customer records themselves on a phone, which software turns into a structured inventory instead of a video someone has to watch. CubitMove sends the link, identifies and sizes what the camera saw, and hands your estimator a Move Report with cubic feet, estimated weight, special items and access conditions.

The workflow

Six steps, and your customer does two of them.

Survey → Move Report → Estimate → Schedule → Crew, on one job record.

  1. You send the survey link

By text or email, or from a button on your own website. Nothing to install on your side or theirs.

  2. They walk the space on their phone

One space at a time, in the browser they already have. They name the spaces themselves, so a home records as rooms and an office records as the areas it actually has.

  3. CubitMove builds the Move Report

Items are identified from the video and sized against standard cube sheet volumes, then organised by space with estimated weight and the access answers.

  4. Your customer confirms the inventory

They see what was found, fix quantities, add what was missed and flag large items. Anything uncertain is marked “Not confirmed” rather than guessed at.

  5. Your estimator reviews and prices the job

The report opens in your dashboard. Your estimator edits anything the camera missed and prices it on your own rate card.

  6. You schedule the job and assign the crew

The accepted estimate carries into the calendar and the crew assignment, on the same job record the survey started.

What the software does, and what it does not

The AI reads the footage. Your estimator still owns the estimate.

Being precise about this is not modesty — it is what makes the report usable. An estimator who cannot tell which lines were inferred cannot correct them.

CubitMove does

  • Identify items from the customer’s video, space by space
  • Size them against conventional cube sheet volumes
  • Total the cubic feet and convert to estimated weight at 7 lb per cubic foot
  • Carry the four access answers through to the report
  • Mark anything uncertain as “Not confirmed” instead of guessing

CubitMove does not

  • Price the move — your rate card does that, and you set it
  • Show any price to your customer
  • Publish an accuracy percentage, because we have not measured one we would stand behind
  • Replace your estimator’s review before an estimate goes out
  • Decide what is a specialty item on your behalf

What comes back

Inventory, cube, weight and access, per space.

  • Items by space, with quantity and category
  • Total volume in cubic feet, and estimated weight at the standard 7 lb per cubic foot tariff factor
  • Large and special items flagged — pianos, safes, and anything that changes the crew or the truck
  • Stairs, elevator, long walk and parking, captured for both ends of the move
  • Preparation notes in the customer’s own words
  • A “Not confirmed” marker anywhere the customer was unsure
FAQs

Questions movers ask about this.

What is an AI video survey for moving companies?

An AI video survey is a pre-move survey the customer records on their own phone, which software converts into a structured inventory. Instead of an estimator driving out or watching a recording, the software identifies the items, sizes them against standard cube sheet volumes and produces an itemized report the estimator reviews and prices.

How does an AI video survey work for movers?

The moving company sends a link. The customer opens it in their phone browser, films one space at a time and answers four access questions covering stairs, elevator, carry distance and parking. The software identifies and sizes the items, the customer confirms the inventory, and the completed Move Report arrives in the moving company’s dashboard.

Can AI create a moving inventory from video?

Yes. CubitMove identifies items from the customer’s video and organises them by space with quantity, category and volume. The customer confirms the list before it reaches the moving company, and the estimator can edit every line, so the inventory is reviewed twice before it is priced.

Can a customer do their own moving survey?

Yes, and that is the normal case. The survey is built to be completed by the customer with no appointment and no one else present.

Does the customer need an app?

No. The survey runs in the browser already on their phone, from a link sent by text or email.

What is the difference between an AI video survey and a live video call?

A live video call still occupies an estimator for the length of the walkthrough and has to be scheduled against the customer’s day. An AI video survey is recorded by the customer whenever it suits them, and the estimator spends their time reviewing a finished inventory rather than watching a walkthrough in real time.
