For commercial movers
Know the commercial job before you build the scope.
CubitMove surveys offices and small commercial sites the same way it surveys homes: a site contact walks the space on their phone and the software returns an itemized inventory with volume, estimated weight and access. It was built for household goods, and this page is explicit about which parts of a commercial job it does not capture yet.
What works today
Free-text spaces, and an inventory that covers office contents.
- Spaces are named by whoever records them, so a site contact can film “Reception”, “Open plan”, “Conference room B” or “Server room” rather than picking from a list of bedrooms
- The inventory covers office contents — desks, chairs, filing cabinets, tables and monitors — alongside the furniture categories the platform already handles
- Volume in cubic feet and estimated weight at 7 lb per cubic foot, totalled across every space filmed
- Large and special items flagged for the crew and the truck
- Stairs, elevator, long walk and parking captured at both ends
- The same Move Report, estimate, schedule and crew assignment as any other job
What is not captured yet
The parts of a commercial move the survey does not ask about.
Stated plainly because you will hit them on the first job, and finding out from the report is worse than finding out from this page.
- No loading dock or freight elevator questions — access capture is stairs, elevator, long walk and parking, the same four questions a household survey asks
- No certificate of insurance or building-rules capture
- No after-hours, weekend or move-window scheduling constraints on the survey
- No floor, department or workstation structure — spaces are a flat list, not a building hierarchy
- No systems-furniture or workstation-count modelling
Where the line falls
Good for offices and small commercial. Not yet for a phased building move.
If the job is an office, a suite, a clinic or a small commercial space where the contents are the difficulty and the building is straightforward, the survey does the work it does on a house: it tells you what is there, how much of it there is, and how hard it will be to carry out.
If the job is a phased multi-floor relocation with dock scheduling, COI requirements and a department-by-department sequence, the survey will give you the inventory but not the plan. Use it for the contents and keep your own process for the building. We would rather you knew that before the first job than after it.

Can AI video surveys work for commercial moves?
For the contents, yes. A site contact films each area on a phone and CubitMove returns an itemized inventory with cubic feet, estimated weight and access. It does not yet capture loading dock access, freight elevator reservations, certificates of insurance or a floor-by-floor structure, so the building side of a commercial move still runs on your own process.
How do commercial movers survey an office?
The moving company sends a survey link to a site contact — usually a facilities manager or office manager. They walk the space on their phone, naming each area as they go, and answer the same four access questions a household survey asks. The completed Move Report arrives with the inventory, the volume and the estimated weight.
How do movers inventory office furniture?
The same way as household goods: item by item, sized against conventional volumes and totalled into cubic feet. CubitMove identifies office contents such as desks, chairs, filing cabinets, tables and monitors from the video, and the estimator reviews the list before pricing.
Does CubitMove handle loading docks and building requirements?
Not yet. The survey asks about stairs, elevator, carry distance and parking. Dock access, freight elevator booking, certificates of insurance and building rules are not captured, and you should plan to gather them separately.
